I know the 70-300mm is older, but it is also more expensive, so it presumably has better build quality, etc. It also seems more convenient to me to have the focus wheel at the back of the lens, and have a manual/auto hybrid mode.
I would like a lens which will work well with future cameras I buy. However, even the D7000 and D300S (far out of my budget) appear to have DX sensors, so I don't suppose I need FX compatibility. Or will the FX standard become more prolific in the near future?
